thanks for the help yesterday. I did get new cables which did speed it up a little. (down to 20hours estimate from 63) Still seamed a little long so . Not sure what is up with my smb mapped drive being so slow. So i tried scp's the 40gb across between machines. it completed in as little as 11 mins. So guess it is somting about the way i mapped the linux file sysem on my mac
