Tootz's 5 acre smallholding
As you wander in, the smell is intoxicating, and you drool a little. Dotted around are isolated mature trees that are capable of producing 400 to 3500 lb of fruit per year. Trees planted close together in the grove produce less fruit, although these serve a useful and unique purpose too. These trees are purely for hammock swinging and lime sniffing. Tootz's lime groves will produce 30,000 - 40,000 lb of fruit per acre per year. The limes are collected in wooden field boxes and conveyed by truck to packinghouses where they are graded, washed, waxed, and packed, and then sent straight to Tootz's kitchen. Mix yourself a caipirinha and curl up in the strategically placed hammock in the sun.
